Family Trust Recognized for Impactful Financial Education and Housing Support
02/12/2026
Family Trust Federal Credit Union has been recognized by the Carolina Credit Union League with the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award, honoring our commitment to empower individuals and families through financial education and community support.
The award highlights credit unions that demonstrate leadership in advancing financial literacy and improving financial well-being. Family Trust was selected for its “Changing Lives Through Housing and Financial Literacy” initiative, which brings together financial education and housing support to help individuals transitioning out of homelessness build long-term stability.
Through partnerships with Housing Development Corporation of Rock Hill (HDCRH) and United Way of York County, participants in Rapid Rehousing and Permanent Supportive Housing programs received access to stable housing alongside financial coaching and matched savings opportunities. In total, 11 participants took part in the program, gaining tools to budget, save, and plan for their financial futures.
HDCRH works to create and preserve affordable housing opportunities in Rock Hill, with a mission focused on helping individuals and families move from housing insecurity to stability. By pairing housing support with wraparound services, the organization helps residents establish a strong foundation for long-term success.
“Financial education is most impactful when it’s timely, practical, and paired with real opportunity,” said Ryan Harvey, president and CEO of Family Trust Federal Credit Union. “By combining stable housing with financial coaching and savings tools, we’re helping people build a foundation they can sustain.”
Participants also had the opportunity to take part in an Individual Development Account (IDA) program, a matched savings initiative designed to help individuals build assets while working toward future goals. Through community funding, participants’ savings are matched, encouraging consistent saving habits and supporting greater financial stability.
Beyond this initiative, Family Trust offers free financial counseling, community workshops, school partnerships, first-time homebuyer education, and resources focused on budgeting and credit management. These programs are designed to support people at every stage of life and help make financial confidence more accessible across our communities.
