Pottery provides personal touch

When you’re a potter, every day is like Christmas.

“When you open that kiln, it’s a great surprise,” said Katherine Petke. She and five others make functional and decorative pottery sold at the Rock Hill Pottery Center in the Gettys Building on Main Street.

“It’s an honor when someone buys my work,” said potter Jonathan Williams.

The group knows how important it is for people to shop locally. They thanked customers with wine and cheese during Rock Hill’s ChristmasVille.

“Handmade art is one of a kind,” said Petke. “We have so many great things right here.”
