Family Trust won second place in the Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action award for its “Buy Local. Bank Local” campaign during the 2014 holiday shopping season. The campaign encouraged members to shop locally and rewarded debit card users when they shopped in York County. The campaign prompted over 20,000 cardholders to spend $17 million locally.
The award will be presented at Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) annual Governmental Affairs Conference in February in Washington, D.C. In addition to the Philosophy-in-Action Award, awards are given for Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service, and Desjardins Youth and Adult Financial Education.
The Buy Local campaign advanced to the national campaign after winning first-place in the same category during a state competition. Family Trust’s Know Your Dough workshops placed first for the
Desjardins award in the state competition.
CUNA, a national trade association for America’s 7,000 credit union, provides lobbying, regulatory advocacy, professional development, and professional services management.
