Thirty-three outstanding York County teachers received their grant awards Tuesday evening. Thanks to these hardworking teachers, local schools are about to add fun, creative, and interactive experiences to their students’ curriculums. Money awarded from these grants will go towards projects such as a simulated journey through Ellis Island; a garden where produce grown will be donated to the Fort Mill Food bank and hopefully sold at a Farmer’s Market event; and the revival of a Musical Theatre class with a musical performance at the end of the school year.

During the banquet, representatives from local school districts, principals, and educators who scored the grants celebrated along with the teachers. Clover School District, Fort Mill School District, Rock Hill School District, and Westminster Catawba Christian School were all in attendance.

Family Trust presented individual and collaborative grant winners $500 each to use towards their educational projects. Over $120,000 has been awarded to area educators since the Teacher Grant program was first established in 2000.
