Learn about money on Youth Advisory Board

Hey teens! Looking for something to do? It won’t take a minute to apply for our 2013-2014 Youth Advisory Board. Service will begin in October and end next spring. You’ll meet students from throughout York County and learn about finances at the same time.

The board, established in 2008, helps Family Trust know what young people want and need and strategies to reach them. The teens also learn about credit unions, money management, and how to make good spending decisions. Seniors who complete a project can compete for a $1,000 scholarship.

Meetings are held once a month at the Family Trust Operations Center in Rock Hill. The year starts with an orientation session and builds from there. Last year’s group conducted a project that taught kids at the Boys and Girls Clubs of York County all about money.

Applicants must be 15-17 years old and attend a York County high school. Click here to apply. The deadline is Sept. 14.
