When businesses were encouraged to get involved in Giving Tuesday on Dec. 1, employees at Family Trust rose to the challenge.
Members joined in by making donations to our Giving Tree to benefit our 2015 charities: the Adult Enrichment Center in Fort Mill, Rideability Therapeutic Riding Center in Clover, Early Learning Partnership in York, and Rock Hill Family Readiness Group that supports local military families.
Family Trust matched community donations for a total of $4,500.
Giving Tuesday is a nationwide effort that encourages citizens to give time, talent, or money. Locally, businesses and non-profits are calling the initiative Rock Hill Gives.
Employees also got hands on.
The Albright Road branch hosted “Scores for Toys,” where members donated $1 to “score” for their team – Clemson or USC. Proceeds were used to buy toys for Toys for Happiness, a holiday partnership led by United Way and WRHI.
Employees at the Family Trust Center are partnering with Renew Our Community (ROC), a non-profit that helps the needy receive food, shelter, job training and mentoring. ROC has served 70,000 since 2011. Employees will collect items listed on their emergency needs list.
York and Ebenezer branches will work Salvation Army kettles during the holidays. Look for them in Family Trust Santa hats. The York branch also bought physical education equipment for students at York Middle School.
