Elise Denney, a senior at Westminster Catawba Christian School, won $1,250 in scholarships for a tweet she posted as part of the Tweet for College scholarship program sponsored by Elements of Money™.
Contest participants were to tweet how credit unions help people. Elise, who plans to attend Clemson University’s Bridge program, wrote her tweet like a fairy tale, saying: “Once upon a time a student had a college dream. A credit union rode in on a fiery steed to help a student in need.”
Elise said her friends tease her about tweeting. “I’m always tweeting. I finally put it to good use.”
The Tweet for College program is open to high school seniors who are members of a credit union and Elements of Money. Elise won $250 in one of the four preliminary rounds, and then $1,000 as the Grand Prize winner.
