Being aware of issues that impact credit unions is important to Family Trust and several board members recently spent time with national representatives in Washington, D.C.

Board members Beverly Ellis, Ann Reid and Ron Russell joined David Casey, Family Trust’s legislative affairs manager, at the 2015 Congressional Caucus conducted by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions.

The group met with elected officials and/or their staff, and encouraged support for proposed legislation on data security, regulation reform, member business lending, risk-based capital reform, and protecting credit union tax exemption.

Meetings were held with U.S. Reps. Jeff Duncan, R-3rd District; Tim Rice, R- 7th District; Mick Mulvaney, R- 5th District; and Joe Wilson, R-2nd District. They met with staff for Lindsey Graham, R-SC, and met Sen. Tim Scott, R-SC, at a private reception.

More than 1,000 credit union representatives attended the caucus, held annually in the fall.
