The Eddie Reeves Community Commitment Scholarship is one of the many ways we like to support the community and recognize students for their community engagement. Each year Family Trust awards a $1,000 to a student who is a model leader serving his/her community. The scholarship remembers Mr. Reeves, a credit union volunteer and board chairman who served Family Trust for over 30 years.
This year’s recipient is Alexandra Travis. Alexandra, better known as Alex, currently majors in Christian Studies with a concentration in Missions. In the scholarship application, students answer the following question in a brief essay “How has giving your time to the community impacted you?” Alex’s volunteer history with her local church and local organizations throughout the community has influenced her to assist in mission trips and pursue a career that works with non-profit organizations. She enjoys putting a smile on people’s faces even if it’s through a simple act of kindness and enjoys making a difference in people’s lives.
This scholarship is open to high school, college and graduate students pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university. A winner is announced every year at our annual meeting. Please check back on the website and social media for next year’s deadline.
